TV Fame for Ron

My good friend, bird watching buddy and photography mentor, Ron McCombe, has recently won the prestigious title of Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year 2010.

As a follow up to this, Ron was asked to appear on Scottish television which was shown earlier this week on STV.

Check out Ron on TV by following the link from his website at  http://www.wildlife-photography.uk.com/blog/?p=4149

Also take time to have at look at Ron's work, and his photography workshops. I have been with him on several trips, and they are well worth it if you are keen on wild life and photography.

Bayerischer Wald National Park

I was lucky enough to take a short trip to Bavaria back in November 2010. The trouble with short trips is that you rarely get good photography weather AND an abundence of subject matter on the same day! Oh well, here are a few shots taken in the National Park. Lynx and Wolf are the main subject matter, but I couldn't resist a shot of the Nuthatch.

Waxwings

After many days scouring the local countryside for the countless reports of waxwings back in November and earlier this month, I was thrilled to catch a glimpse of a few and even managed a few pictures.

Unusual patient!

Well it has been extremely cold, and the wild birds are obviously keen to take shelter and warmth where-ever they can. So how about this. One of my friends, who works for the Ambulance Service, found a Goldcrest in the back of his vehicle! Thanks to PMK for the pictures.

Winter Wonderland

Yes, we have just enjoyed (or not!) a few days of harsh wintery weather, so I'll start with a few local scenes taken a few days ago.

Wild Pics Start

Having been a very amateur photographer for some years, I though it might be a good idea to start publishing a few of my pictures for all to see.

You will probably gather that the majority of my pictures are of wildlife (and in particular birds) but if the opportunity arises, perhaps I'll be brave enough to add some landscapes!

As time progresses (and new photos are safely in the camera!) I'll endeavour to keep the blog up to date, but as ever, my time may be required elsewhere.

Take a look and see what you think.
